Batik Tulis Cirebon Dancing Dutch
Dancing Dutch
This 1-of-a-kind handdrawn batik (tulis) was made in Cirebon, and tells a story of Dutch couples dancing during their spare time in Indonesia during the colonial era. The Dutch ruled over the archipelago for 350 years starting from the 16th century. So it is no wonder that a lot of our traditional arts (including batik) was influenced either by the European culture or stories of colonialization itself.
